IN DOMINICA

Live, work and study

Citizens have full rights to live, work and study in Dominica, and no stay is required to keep the citizenship.

TAX

No wealth, inheritance or capital gains tax

Dominica levies no gift tax. If you stay no more than 183 consecutive days and do not become tax resident, foreign income is not taxed in Dominica; tax residents are taxed on worldwide income.

NATIONALITY

Dual citizenship, for life

Dominica recognises dual citizenship and requires no renunciation of your existing nationality. The citizenship is held for life.

FAMILY

One application for the family

Spouse, children, parents and grandparents can be included. Children born later can be added after their own assessment.

SHORT VISITS

China and Hong Kong

Dominica ordinary passport holders may visit China visa-free for up to 30 days and Hong Kong for up to 90 days, subject to entry conditions. These short-visit arrangements do not grant residence, employment or study rights.

UK AND US

Check visa requirements before travel

A visa is required for ordinary visits to the UK. Since 1 January 2026, the US has partially suspended B1/B2, F, M, J and immigrant visa issuance to Dominica nationals who were outside the US and had no valid US visa on that date. Specific exceptions apply; visas valid before that date are not revoked under this proclamation.

Your path to citizenship

09

Your path to citizenship

Citizenship begins with the certificate

Approval in principle, then the naturalisation certificate, then the passport.

  1. Approval in principleDecision letter with payment instruction
  2. Naturalisation certificateCitizenship begins
  3. PassportApplied for with the certificate
  4. Holding periodApproved property only: three years, or five for resale to an applicant

A direct citizenship programme

After approval in principle, complete the fund contribution or the approved property investment and the required payments. Citizenship follows directly, with no residence period first.

The certificate is the proof

Once the investment and remaining requirements are accepted, the naturalisation certificate evidences citizenship. It is then used, with identity documents and photographs, to apply for the passport.

After citizenship

Keep each family member's documents and renewal dates in order. Property investors observe the holding period. Later family additions are assessed in their own application.
